How can we unlock the power of business to address global poverty?

Hi Sue,

Thanks for such an interesting topic.

I believe that supporting countries in poverty to start their own businesses or future investments ,is the best option rather than providing them with food or smaller donations that will last for probably a day. There you will be unlocking the power of business to address global poverty. I'm currently working on a project titled Bendecido Unlocking potential, here is some information about what i domprove awareness and identity, develop talents and potential, build human capital and facilitate employability, enhance quality of life and contribute to the realization of dreams and aspirations.

BUP & BEA Expected Impact
________________________________________
• The Project aim to help to identify people who have the potential to run their own business, giving them the training support and investment to make their ideas a reality.

• Increase the awareness, acknowledgement, communication and practices required for the Economic Growth Programme Opportunity, publicly declaring the country's intent to become an enterprising and enabling borough.

• It will include support, workshops and events to encourage residents to start up their own business and will be provided as outreach globally. It will also target young people and those who have become distanced from the labour market encouraging them to think about self employment.

• Busting Barriers to Enterprise - This specifically focuses on identifying the barriers that can often stymie entrepreneurship and ideas that could help to remove these barriers. This will include a document which sets out the barriers that business faces an how to address them through the support programme.

• Growing Our Winners - The project will concentrate on helping our local businesses to grow, with a high proportion of micro businesses in the globally. The introduction of a scheme to consider how we maximise the competitiveness of our businesses and encourage innovation will be key to delivering growth. This will include support and advice around export opportunities and accessing new markets, support for businesses looking to take on more staff, support to expand the business in general.

That would be brilliant. I'd be interested to explore it!
